By-Laws

Board of Directors and Elections: The Board of Directors consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Member-at-Large. The President shall appoint any other Chairpersons deemed necessary for the year. Members of the Board are annually elected by a majority of the membership at the end of the golf season.

Rules Committee: The Rules Committee shall consist of the President and two additional league members appointed by the President. Any member may request that any issue relating to the rules of golf be reviewed by and voted on by the committee. All decisions of the Rules Committee are final.

Membership: Membership in the BLGL is open to all lady golfers who pay the appropriate fee. The fee is payable by, or on, the first day of open season. It is the responsibility of each member to pay her dues at this time. Under extraordinary circumstances, a member may be expelled by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Members being considered for expulsion will be afforded the opportunity to present mitigating circumstances to the board, in person or in writing, prior to the board taking official action.

Handicap: Members must have an established USGA handicap of 40 or less or must establish such a handicap by posting the scores of five rounds of golf in accordance with USGA rules. Handicaps must be established within five weeks of joining the league. Members are responsible for the timely posting of all scores consistent with the requirements of the USGA handicap system.

Pace of Play: Members must be able to complete a round of golf in a reasonable amount of time. (At Brambleton, an 18-hole round should take approximately 4 hours and 23 minutes.) Any member who is unable to play at a reasonable pace, as deemed by the Rules Committee, may be dismissed from the league.

Prize Eligibility: Any member who has paid dues and has established a current USGA handicap is eligible to compete in weekly events. To compete in the league-sponsored events, including the Club Championship, members are required to play in at least one-third of all regular playable Monday rounds with BLGL.

Playable Rounds: If at least 8 women complete a minimum of 13 holes, the day is considered a “playable” league round. If a member completes a minimum of 13 holes on any playable league round, she is considered to have played in the round.

Season: The season runs from November 1 to October 31.

Changing these By-Laws: These by-laws may be amended by a vote of the majority of the membership, providing the amendment has been presented at least ten days prior to the vote.
